So, what is keratin and how does it work?

Brazilian hair straightening is intended for people with problematic hairstyles. This applies to men and women with thin and brittle strands that are easily frizzy, static, broken under the influence of the sun or rubbed too hard with a towel. Keratin hair reconstruction will nourish and elasticize strands damaged by straightening iron, using alcohol-based over drying cosmetics, repeated dyeing and decolorization, or simply improper care.

What is keratin?

It is a natural building block for skin, hair, and nails. Protein that is responsible for the flexibility and elasticity of the hairstyle, as well as for its shine and healthy appearance. We lose keratin through bad care, UV radiation or an inadequate diet. Its deficiency makes the hair brittle, the cuticles open and the ends split much faster. More hair falls out when washing, sleeping, or brushing.

Keratin for hair, or how does the keratin hair reconstruction treatment work?

The keratin treatment is performed by professional stylists in a hairdressing salon. In short, it is about pressing keratin into the hair. But what does it look like in reality?

At the beginning, the hair is washed with specialized shampoos in lukewarm water, thanks to which the hair cuticles open up and are more susceptible to changes in their structure. Then the hairdresser applies a keratin preparation along the entire length and presses it into individual strands. For this, he uses a barber iron, which heats up to a temperature of 230 degrees Celsius. Thanks to this, keratin penetrates the very canter of the hair and replenishes the gaps, strengthening the strands and giving them elasticity. The protein is left on the hair for 10-30 minutes depending of the product make, then gently blow dried  hair using a moderate amount of air.

Hair keratin and its action

After the treatment, even fluffy curls become straight, hair is more manageable and less susceptible to weather conditions. They look healthy and strong. The effect lasts for 3 to 5 months. To extend this period, several rules must be followed. First, after the keratin treatment, you should avoid washing your head for 2-3 days. For at least 2 weeks, you can not apply any hair dye, use deodorization or perform other invasive treatments. It is also a good idea to avoid kneading the strands for a while. So do not use rubber bands, hats, turban, and avoid rubbing your hair with a towel. Use natural cosmetics that do not contain silicone and alcohol.
